The Chamber is accepting nominations for the Small Business of the Year and Teacher of the Year. Everyone is welcome to make nominations.
Nominees for Small Business of the Year can range from an individual business owner to a business with up to 50 employees. Criteria considered include the business' contributions to the community, company image, employee development, and business growth. Past recipients for this award include: Bert's Auto Parts, H&H Sheet Metal, Dale Shrull, Arby's, Cox's Variety Store, Lanny & Gerald McPherson, Colonial House Furniture, Ben Ferguson, Logan Telephone Coop, Auburn Leather Company, Sharon Travis, Gower Drug Store, Farmers Hardware, DDI Engineering, KT Harvestore, CGS Machine, WRUS Radio, Omni Printing and Riley-White Drugs & Jewelry. Businesses are encouraged to nominate themselves! Who else knows your business any better?
Nominees for Teacher of the Year must be a full-time teacher in one of the school systems or other educational institutions within Logan County. Criteria considered include the ability to inspire love of learning in students, willingness to work with fellow professionals and contribute to the field of education, and ability to encourage the maximum level of achievement in all students. Past recipients of this award are: Brenda Davenport, Gerald Hildabrand, Samra Smith, Sarah Emberger, Jan Fowler, Patsy Leach, Barbara Brown, Chris Warner, Cyndi Young, Maydeen Bailey, Sandra Bollenbecker, Sharon Grace, Jennifer Kelley, Aubrietta Woodall, Jan Holliday, Tom Thompson, Stephanie Alvis, David Atkins, Jean Reynolds, and Shawn Sansom.
Winners are chosen based on the criteria set forth in the nomination form and by volunteer selection committees. Those chosen will be honored at the Chamber's Annual Dinner in 2007. Nomination forms for Small Business and Teacher of the Year are available at the Chamber office. Deadline for nominations is Wednesday, January 31, 2007, 4PM.
