LEAD held its annual Business & Industry Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Crossroads Church. President John Ferris welcomed 203 guests. LEAD's new Executive Director, Tom Harned, was introduced and gave a brief, positive outlook of the economic state in Logan County. Secretary of State Trey Grayson was the main speaker for the event. The program concluded with the Awards Presentation: For Increased Investment & Employment, Bluegrass Recycling, LLC; Carpenter Co.; Cumberland Scrap Processors, LLC; Griffin Industries; Riley White Drugs & Jewelry were recognized. For Increased Investment, Amtech, LC was recognized. For Increased Employment, Ventra Plastics was recognized. A special award, "LEAD Corporate Citizen Award" was given to Don Neagle for 50 years of broadasting at the local AM radio station, WRUS.
Co-Sponsors for the luncheon event were Atmos Energy, Logan Memorial Hospital, R.J. Corman Railroad Company, Scott, Murphy & Daniel, and Tennessee Valley Authority. The meal was catered by Logan County FFA Alumni, Proudly Supporting the FFA.
Door prizes were provided by Farmers Hardware, Ray Bones Restaurant, Rolling Hills Golf Course, Wal-Mart Super Center and Poore's Nursery.
